Values and Traditions

At Nursery in the Wood, Jewish values and traditions are at the heart of everything we do. In a warm and inclusive environment, we guide children to explore their heritage with joy, meaning, and curiosity. Through age-appropriate storytelling, songs, holiday celebrations, and hands-on mitzvah projects, children begin to internalize timeless Jewish principles such as kindness, gratitude, respect, and community. Shabbat is a  weekly highlight filled with songs, challah baking, and candle lighting, creating cherished memories and a sense of belonging.

We bring the Jewish calendar to life through experiential learning—whether building a sukkah, tasting honey for Rosh Hashanah, planting for Tu B’Shevat, or dressing up for Purim. These lessons are woven naturally throughout our curriculum, becoming a treasured part of our students’ experiences. Every holiday is an opportunity for hands-on discovery, helping children form a personal connection to Jewish life that is both meaningful and memorable.

Our approach encourages a deep and lasting connection to Jewish identity, allowing each child to grow with a strong moral foundation and a love for their heritage that will accompany them well beyond their early years.
